A snapshot of current research undertaken by early-career researchers in the fields of marine biology, botany, zoology, mining, chemical engineering, biomedical science, astronomy and agriculture was presented as part of Fresh Science 2004.

Serving Australian Fresh Science to the World:

Each year two awards are presented.  

The 2004 winner of the British Council study tour is: Mark Hutchinson from the University of Adelaide

This is awarded to the person who best meets the objectives of the program - that of communicating their research in an understandable way and to make it relevant and accessible to everyone. The scientists is supported to go on a study tour to the UK where they will present their work at the Royal Institution. This is organised by the British Council Australia.

The 2004 winner of the ABC internship is: Marie Pirotta from the University of Melbourne

The 'people's choice', as judged by their peers, will spend a week with the Science Unit at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
